What we love most about our CSA is the community around it. What brings people together better than food?
People join CSAs for many reasons. For those who want to eat healthier food, and CSA is a way to ensure that they bring wholesome vegetables into their kitchens each week. For those wanting to reduce their carbon footprint and promote a healthy local economy, eating food from a local farm is a powerful change. Each year, members tell us that joining the CSA encouraged them to cook meals regularly, enjoy more time with friends and family, made them feel happier and healthier overall, and even inspired them to eat vegetables for breakfast!
And, of course, as everyone joins a CSA knows or comes to find out, fresh local produce tastes really really good.

How does Plowbreak Farm's CSA work?
CSA members enjoy 23 weeks of fresh, local, seasonal produce - at least 10-12 types (and often more!) each week - from June to November. We are not able to split family shares among separate households.
Our flagship CSA pick up is held at Liquid State Brewing, in Ithaca's West End. It's a market-style setting (pictured above), and members have the flexibility to choose which vegetables to take home that week. Read more about market-style CSA in our CSA member guide.

What vegetables are in a typical share?
CSA shares vary depending on the season. On a typical week, we offer our members 10 to 12 different types of produce, a range of salad greens, cooking greens, crunchy roots, cooking roots, onions, tomatoes, squash - the list goes on.

Is your produce safe to eat?
We are a Certified Organic farm, and we are committed to sustainability. We grow everything with organic practices while promoting healthy natural habitats around the farm; we cover crop and build natural fertility with compost. We cold shock and wash all produce but ask that you also always wash it at home before eating.
Do you offer add-on shares?
CSA members who pick up in Ithaca can add on local flower, bread and mushroom shares from neighboring farms. Add-on shares are handled by the individual farm and members can sign up or find more information by contacting each farm.
Choose from two convenient pick-up options.
