Fast e-mail today. Harvest took a long time! We have SO MANY ROOTS FOR
YOU! And greens, of course. Looks like the summer veggies are finally
petering out, but look for some surprises in the share.
We officially have three weeks left until our Spring/Summer/Fall CSA
is over. We're so glad you've been a part of this!
'We will be definitely having a Thanksgiving Share, and we will be
pricing it at $30 for a FULL bushel box of a variety of shapes and
colors and flavors of fall roots and greens. Think everything you've
been eating this fall, but sweeter because it'll have been
frost-kissed by then. We would love to help grace your holiday table
and we hope it can be an affordable option for you. Please let us know
soon if you'd like to sign up, pickups will be the same for these
shares as well.
Alright, so anyways, couple a new things in the share this week --
Brussels Sprouts, Mangelwurzel Beets, and Rutabagas! Sorrel is back as
well. It's good weather for soups, I've said it before and I'll say it
again! Basically all our vegetables at this time of year go well with
bacon, so that's pretty much an excellent way to eat any of it. Lots
of stir fries and pasta dishes at our place, with some excellent
mexican food with all that glorious cilantro thrown in! Hope you're
eating well with excellent table mates. See you soon!
Oh -- something you should totally try is this recipe for green
goddess dressing -- you can use our scallions and basil in it! Also
try adding sorrel. Very good on pretty much anything.
The vegetable matter:
Winter Squash -- assortment of pie pumpkins, delicata squash,
Mangelwurzel Beets (big and sweet! Be creative with them, they have
white flesh so they won't turn your dish pink)
Easter Egg Radish
Red and White Hakurei Turnips
Salad mix -- lettuce, arugula, asian greens
Bunched Asian Greens -- tat soi, mizuna, mustard
Red Lettuce Heads
Brussels Sprouts (on the stalk)
Thanks, have a good one! See you soon.
