Hi CSA members!
It's our first official distribution week! Hurray! If you're picking
up at the Westy, see you there from 5-8 pm. If you're picking up on
the farm, see you Monday anytime. We'll have a large share each
prepped for you folks until we get our walk-in cooler up and running.
We have been doing many things this week, as you can imagine. Planting
cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, summer squash, winter squash,
corn, more turnips, carrots, beets and lettuce, and weeding
EVERYTHING! Literally, there are more weeds than vegetables in our
field right now (tis the season), but we are working around the clock
to change that, wheel hoes and hand hoes working furiously.
This week, as you might expect because it's still spring, we have LOTS
of greens, and this is not a bad thing, people! You will not have such
an incredible variety of delicious greens again until fall! Savor it
while you can..... I see many delicately stir-fried bok choi dishes,
bursting salads of fresh arugula, and bright green braised kale in
We also have crunchy stuff, too! Sweet baby hakurei turnips, which are
oh-so-good (Kara compared eating one earlier to a fresh peach, they
are that good), kohlrabi, which is like apple slices it's so sweet,
and more of those lovely french breakfast radishes. And next week,
we're likely to have broccoli and garlic scapes!
Little aside: if you won't be able to make it to a distribution, feel
free to send a friend instead, and they can pick up the share for you!
Just tell them to mention your name so we can check you off the list.
Here's a list of what veggies we're likely to have this week:
asian green salad mix
sweet baby turnips
french breakfast radishes
That's all for this week! Looking forward to seeing you all again!
