Week 8 is here, and exciting news, we should have a *limited* amount of tomatoes next week at distribution! From then on, we'll be swimming in tomatoes, so it's about to get really good..... we just need some consistent rain!
We were out in the fields all this week prepping new beds for our fall broccoli, cabbage, carrots and beets, and got most of the seedlings/seeds in the ground. We ended up purchasing a used BCS walk-behind tractor and it is revolutionary! We're extremely happy with it and it will make our jobs just a little bit easier, so that's great!
This week also sees the return of golden beets and lettuce, and the first carrots and beans of the season!
Anyways, keep sending recipes! We love getting them and trying them! This one comes courtesy of member Becky Bowen.... and although we don't have kohlrabi this week, you could easily substitute cabbage or carrots or just put all your crunchy stuff in the food processor! Thanks Becky.
Take some kohlrabi and beets to the cheese grater. You can also add in some
finely sliced cabbage in addition or instead of the kohlrabi (but then it
loses its fun name)
I like to grate up some ginger and garlic to add in
Add mayo to taste, depending on how creamy you want it and how many veggies
Add 1/2 tbsp of lemon juice
1/2-1 tbsp of mustard to taste
cayenne if you wish
mix it all up for a delicious and funky looking side dish!
Alright, here's what you'll be getting in your shares this week:
Thanks, see you all soon!
