right now we're about to sit down to a fresh salad with grated carrot
and turnip and a pasta dish with stir fried veggies... man am I
hungry! Digging potatoes will do that for you!
We're hoping you're enjoying autumn's bounty of produce. It's a
different assortment of veggies, one that's perfect for slaws, salads,
soups, stews and roasting. It's still possible to eat very well this
season, there's just a lot of chopping! (well, that's almost always
true with fresh veggies!) Because we are usually pretty busy, my
favorite way to cook is right over the pot, just snippin and cutting
everything in as I go. It's easy, and there's little cleanup. Kara is
not a huge fan of this method, though, so we go through cycles ...
we hope that this year, with these veggies you've gotten to spend more
quality time in the kitchen -- and at the table -- with your family!
while we know that preparing veggies and food is often a lot of work,
we hope that having an abundance has been a way for you to be with
your family and friends more! While I sometimes dread going to cook a
meal, the conversations and the camraderie that comes out of it seems
to be worthwhile. Better than microwaving dinner and watching TV.....
A side note: we don't want anyone to feel like they have to take too
much vegetables, or more than you can reasonably eat in a week. We
always harvest extra, and we really don't mind bringing it home and
leaving it in the cooler! Our share is take what you need, and if you
need a LOT, that's great! If, on the other hand, your needs are more
modest, we want you to be happy and comfortable with taking not as
OK, so now I have to start helping Kara load the truck, she's giving
me the ol' evil eye for being on the computer too long, so farewell!
See you tonight!
